Israel Solidarity Day, a celebration marking Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2010. This community-wide, family-friendly event features the Walk with Israel (a 3 Mile walkathon to raise funds for Israeli children), plus food and festivities for all ages. Israel Solidarity Day brings together Jews from across the Chicago area to stand with their community and support their Jewish homeland.

Join YWC on Thursday, March 18 at Pagoda Red (1714 N. Damen) for our 2010 Tzedakah Spotlight event, which celebrates women who give a gift of $250 or more in their own name to the 2010 JUF Annual Campaign.  Our featured speaker is Sophie Ambrose, a young woman who was born and initially raised in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, hardly knowing she was Jewish, much less knowing what being Jewish meant. Through a Google search, she found out about birthright Israel, which she then participated in.

JUF and JVS will be hosting a Job Fair on Friday, April 16, 2010 for entry to mid level professionals. The fair will run from 10 am – 2 pm at the Standard Club (320 South Plymouth Court ). From 9 am - 10 am there will be a Job Fair preparation workshop. In addition to face-to-face contact with hiring firms, job seekers will have the opportunity to participate in several career workshops and receive career counseling and resume help.
